Product and Specification

GAJ Technology's wireline and cable simulators, reproduce the characteristics of each pairs of CATx or xDSL wires, of various lengths, including insertion loss, return loss and impedance, based on international standards such as ANSI/TIA-568 (Commercial Building Telecommunications Cabling Standards) and ISO/IEC 11801 (Generic cabling for customer premises).

These are the perfect tools for quickly and inexpensively testing modems, DSLAMs, network cards or any device that uses CATx or xDSL cable and can provide proof of compliance for telecommunication equipment.

Our small "match box sized" simulators can be quickly daisy chained to simulate incremental lengths of CATx twisted pair cable.

GAJ Technology's ruggedly designed simulators are warranted against defects in workmanship. Warranty Details

Attenuator

Attenuator

GAJ Technology's attenuator reproduce the characteristics of a 2 wire phone line with an impedance of 600 ohm and an insertion loss (attenuation) of 9dB. The RJ‑45 jacks at each ends can be used with either an RJ‑11 or an RJ‑45 plugs. The attenuator is ideal for testing phone systems, DTMF signal, etc.

The 2 wires simulator is connected as shown in the figure at the left. Please contact us for other attenuation & impedance.

GAJ Technology's attenuator is available as a module, with the following dimensions:

     1 3/8" x 1 3/8" x 3.5"
     35mm x 35mm x 90mm

Electrical Specifications

Click on any of the Graphs to get a larger View. The graphs assume a source impedance of 100 ohms. Connecting a device with a different impedance will affect the curve, as is the case with actual cable.

Insertion Loss

The insertion loss, also called attenuation, is the amount of signal loss by the insertion of the cable between the signal's source and the device under test. Doubling the length results in about twice the insertion loss.

Return Loss

The return loss is the signal returned by the cable due to the impedance mismatch between the cable and the ideal 100 ohm impedance, which interferes with the desired signal from the remote end. This characteristic of real cable is simulated by GAJ Technology's simulators.

Impedance

The simulation includes both the real and imaginary part of the impedance.
